Camp Staff Seminar 2015 – Planning Team Comes to KISC

I like a place at the window in the train. Sure, I have lot of things to do on my computer and the waggons in the train have these diamind shaped power outlets, but I like to watch the scenery.

It feels a little odd to have packed clothes for half a meter of snow when the landscape of green grass and classical tree houses in close clusters pass by. I guess you look like a tourist while looking at the landscape with camera ready in hand.

After Bern, the last place to change train is Spiez, a small lovely town on the slopes down to a teal coloured lake. It really is a postcard in reality and even if the sun isn’t shining, it’s still teal.

One can see the mouintain tops covered in snow, the only question is now how much snow Kanderstag has. The train leaves the station for the climb up the pass then leads to Kandersteg. I’m not alone anymore. I actually have two of my planning team members with me on the same train, but we don’t speak much. You don’t wanna miss the view as the train climbs the mountian side. Søren hadn’t eaten since he left Denmark, so I offered my packed lunch.

Almost half a meter of snow

Almost half a meter of snow

It wasn’t exactly half a meter of snow that met us at Kandersteg train station, more like no snow. But there is always hope for more snow in Kandersteg this year. We took the bus to the centre and entered the reception. I always like a tee or coffee after a long travel and when served with pizza it’s even better. Being in a planning team we also had a things to do and get started, so we quickly moved into our rooms in Kander Lodge and installed our selves in our meeting room downstairs. The first evening was mostly spent setting up for Thursday.

Kandersteg Morning

Going outside every morning in Kandersteg you always wonder what view will meet you. This day it was a day of where-is-my-half-meter-of-snow. A quick breakfast and we immediately got started polishing and finalizing our workshops, icebreakers and all other loose ends. The participants started to arrive and as the day progressed more and more got done.

Rounding off the day was some initial info, name tag making and the fantastic invention Chocolate Fondue Speed Dating for all participants. All were tired of the long travel so soon after the chocolate fondue all public spaces where empty.
